Beauty Round Up: Naked Beauty

Hello Lovelies,

Gosh it’s been so hot here in London this summer, it’s been wonderful but it’s enough to make a girl want to wander about naked. Now, apart from enjoying going au naturel in your own home, there’s not much choice about wearing clothes when interacting in day to day life, however, that doesn’t mean your nails need to look dressed! I’ve herded my fave nudey nail colours here for your perusal, from pale pinks, peachy tones, mochas and deep brown to cover all skin tones. Whether they be glossy, matte, textured or sparkly, let your nails look naked.

One Pair of Trousers, Two Different Ways.

Hello Lovelies,

A quick style post, showing you how I took one pair of striped trousers from day to night for my Mr’s birthday last week.

Look One: Daytime. We headed out to the Hayward Gallery to see the Light Show. I really recommend it, it was beautiful and immersive. Hurry though as it ends on the 28th of April, also, tickets tend to sell out each day so book online beforehand. I wore the trousers with a black slash neck, 3/4 sleeve sweater, black patent boots and a skull print scarf to keep the chill air off my neck. I kept my makeup pretty classic 50s and wore a red bandana in my hair. I topped off the look with some chunky skull rings and my sugar skull pendant.Stripe Trouser 01Look Two: Evening. After nomming some yummy Mexican food we headed back home for a short while. We went out for drinks in the evening so I switched up my outfit a bit. I took the sweater off to reveal the off shoulder tee I had been wearing underneath all day. Changed the boots for red suedette heels, added a red clutch bag, cocktail ring and pretty stud earrings, reapplied my red lipstick and I was all set.Stripe Trousers 02That’s enough about clothes for now. For you bakers out there, I’ll be posting my Beau’s birthday cupcake recipe soon, pear, almond and chocolate flavour, mmm! Thank you kindly for reading!

Paris Trip: What I wore.

Paris Trip. Tiki BarHello Lovelies,

I arrived home from Paris a couple of days ago, me and my Beau had an amazing time. We mostly looked at dead stuff which was interesting, creepy and fun. It was pretty cold over there but it was dry and sunny at least. We did a lot of walking, I am still pooped out! Here’s what I wore from my capsule wardrobe…

Day 1: I totally forgot to take a photo but I wore my black Capri pants, indigo vest top, black sweater and boots traveling out there. Comfy and practical and yet still smart. We checked into our hotel and then went wandering up to the Bastille (well, where it used to be) and along the river before heading to a vegan Asian fusion restaurant for take-away to eat in our hotel room.

Day 2: Striped stretch pencil skirt, long sleeve black scoop neck top and indigo sweater. I wore my leopard print beret to keep my head warm. I wore my boots again because we were doing a lot of walking and I decorated them with my purple rose hair clips. We went to the Pantheon, ate vegan cake and went for drinks at the Pop In bar in the evening.

Paris Outfit 01Day 3: I wore my striped skirt again but this time I wore it with my off the shoulder tee and a red belt. I wore a red bandana too to tie the colours together. I wore my boots and added skeleton hands to my bandana. We went to Pere Lachaise cemetery to see the graves of Oscar Wilde, Edith Piaf and Jim Morrison to name just a few. Paris Outfit 02Day 3- Evening: I changed into my leopard print wiggle dress and added red lipstick for the evening. I originally planned to wear my heels to my beau’s gig at the International but kept my boots on so I could have a proper dance.Paris Outfit 03Day 4: On the Sunday, we were heading off to the catacombs. It was freezing so I put on my Capri pants, leg warmers, boots, vest top, sweater and my convertible wrap with my fuzzy hat to boot. Not the most stylish of outfits but I was damned if I was going to freeze!Paris Outfit 04So, as you can see, I didn’t wear everything I packed. I didn’t wear my heels, all of my accessories, evening top or blouse but had we gone out for dinner somewhere fancy, I would have had something to throw on. It also meant I had plenty of choice without over packing. I managed to get my Mr’s clothes and toiletries into the same small case as my stuff! I’ll be posting more about my Paris trip over the next week, including a look at some of the vegan eateries and the creepy places we visited. That’s all for now though, thank you for reading.

Look of the Day: Slimy Pyschobilly Shimmers

LotD 09Hello Lovelies,

Quick Look of the Day post. This was the hair and makeup I wore to last week’s Death Jam, complete with creepy accessories.

I primed my eyes and dusted them with a bit of translucent powder. I then used a shimmery lime green all over my lid and up to the crease. In the outer corner of the crease I blended in a pearly sea foam blue/green. Using the brush with the translucent powder on to blend out at the brown bone.

LotD 04I lined my eyes with black liquid liner ending in a wing. I used a long wearing black eyeliner to line my lower waterline. I finished off my eyes with two coats of jet black mascara.

LotD 02I penciled in my brows using a taupe colour and gave them a slight flick up at the ends. I blushed my cheeks with a wash of pink creme blush and added a beauty mark with the liquid liner.LotD 03 I then used a bright juicy pink lipstick on my mouth and blotted it back slightly so that my eyes were the emphasis.

LotD 05I piled all of my hair up on top of my head in neat little barrel curls and stand up pin curls. I made a little side rolled fringe and tied in a lime green chiffon scarf. I added a few creepy accessories for good measure. LotD 07 LotD 06 LotD 01LotD 08 Although the shimmery green shadow is quite a bright colour, it hasn’t shown up as well on my photos (bad lighting, tsk!). Although this makeup and hair was for an evening event, it’s a look I like to wear in the day too. Bright colours cheer me up, especially in the depths of winter!

Well, that’s all for today, as always, thank you kindly for reading. Until next time. <3

Coco Loco* Top 10 Beauty Uses for Coconut Oil

Source: http://homeremediesblogger.blogspot.co.uk

Hello Lovelies,

Today I want to share a thrifty beauty secret with you. It’s all natural, tasty and it smells amazing, yep, coconut oil. Coconut oil has been used as a beauty product around the world for many years. Most notably as a moisteriser and as a hair conditioner (as well as something you can cook and bake with). Here I my top 10 beauty uses for this wonder oil…

1) Make-up remover: Gently rub the coconut oil all over your face to dissolve even waterproof makeup. Use a warm muslin cloth or soft cotton towelling face cloth to wipe away all traces of makeup. Also, don’t worry if you have oily skin. Oil cleansing is really great for oily skin as like attracts like and the coconut oil molecules attach to the sebum in your face and pull them out! Add some virgin castor oil to the mix if you have oily skin and you’ll be able to feel the ‘plugs’ of dirt from your face after massaging for a few minutes. Gross but also kind of satisfying!

Source: http://blog.goodnessdirect.co.uk/

2) Moisteriser: Massage a small amount into your face after cleansing. Coconut oil sinks into skin leaving it soft and supple.

3) Body scrub: Half a cup of soft brown sugar, half a cup or coconut oil. Mix together and smooth all over in the shower. Smells AMAZING (and is totally edible too). Leaves your tushy smooth as a baby’s!

4) Lip balm: Decant a small amount into a small tin to carry about with you. Apply when lips are feeling dry (or in preparation for a major make out session).

5) Tinted balm/gloss: Same as above, except, mix in a bit of your favourite lipstick. Make as intense or sheer as you like. Alternatively, apply a small amount over matte lipstick to add a slight sheen.

6) Hair shine pomade: A SMALL amount of this wonder oil rubbed into your palms and smoothed over your hair will add a lovely glossy shine to your finished do.

Shine added with a little coconut oil.

7) Hair conditioner: Rub into your scalp and all the way to the ends of your hair (only on the ends if your hair tends to get greasy). Wrap your head in clingfilm and leave for at least an hour. Rinse with shampoo twice to ensure the oil is removed. You shouldn’t need to use conditioner, just rub a tiny bit of extra coconut oil through the ends of your hair when it’s dry if you have frizzies.

8 ) Cuticle/nail oil: Massage into the cuticles and all over the nail bed (and your hands too if you like), pop on cotton gloves for 20 minutes for extra softening. Wash hands and push back your cuticles with an orange stick.

9) Eyelash and brow tamer: Rub a little coconut oil over a spoolie, old mascara wand or toothbrush then run it through your lashes and brows. This is great for those who don’t like to wear a lot of makeup or for people with thick dark lashes who really don’t need mascara (you lucky devils!).

10) Face mask: There are several different ways you can use coconut oil as a face mask. The most simple one is a quick exfoliating mask. Add half a teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda to it and massage into your face GENTLY. Wipe away with a warm cloth and splash your face a few times. Finish with a little more of the oil to moisterise.

Source: http://hippiechicchick.wordpress.com

Another way is to smoosh it up with half of a ripe avocado, apply liberally over your face and leave for 30 minutes. Both coconut oil and avocado are super moisterising, so this is great for dry/sensitive skins.

Just a quick note: Make sure that you purchase a cold pressed, raw and organic coconut oil to get the most goodness from the oil. There are a few different versions out there. You can get it with the scent removed (favoured for cooking so that the smell doesn’t over power the other ingredients) but I actually really like it with the scent. It makes me smell like a cookie! You’ll get around 500ml for anywhere between £10-£20 depending on the brand you go for but it will last ages. I’ve had my current jar (Tiana brand, from Holland & Barrett) for 3 months and I’m only a quarter way through it. Obviously, if you make body scrub from it, it’ll get used up more quickly though. Also, coconut oil is solid when it’s cold and liquid when warm, so you will need to warm it in your hands slightly before using as a moisteriser, mask, pomade etc.

I hope you found this interesting. It really is a thrifty, healthy and natural product. That’s all for today. Thank you kindly for reading.

*Bonus points for getting the title reference ;)

LotD: Think Pink

Hello Lovelies, just a quick look of the day post. The sun was shining and I was feeling super happy, pink seemed to be the colour that was calling to me.

I have a bouffant left over from having a mini beehive in my hair the last couple of days. I swooped a bit of my hair at the front aside to make a faux fringe. Wearing some hair accessories I made myself, orchids, my favourite flower.

I used a light creamy foundation just where I needed a bit of coverage (Maybelline’s Dream Creamy in 04 Light Porcelain), with a touch of light powder to set.  I buffed a bit of hot pink blush into my cheeks, NARS blush in Desire.

Most of my eyeshadow brushes need a wash so I applied my shadow with my fingertips. I used 17’s Solo Eyeshadow in Funfair on the lid upto the crease. I then added 17’s Solo Eyeshadow in Shocking pink to the outer crease. I blended the whole thing out at the brow bone with Clinique’s Solo Shadow in Vanilla. I finished the eyes off with winged eyeliner (MAC’s Fluidline in Blacktrack), black mascara and half strip lashes on the ends of my upper lash line for a bit of extra flutter.

Lips were painted a hot ink in 2True’s Colour Drench col. 1. It gives nice coverage and is quite glossy looking but it smells horrible!

I’m really looking forward to trying out some more colourful looks now the sunshine is here. It just makes me want to play! That’s all for now lovelies. Thank you kindly for reading. x

Look of the Day: #ZOMGBloggersBash Style

Hello Lovelies, just thought I would do a quick LotD post for the #ZOMGBloggersBash (I blogged about the actual event yesterday, read it here). I had asymmetric victory rolls in my hair but you can’t really tell in the photos. Oh well. I’ll just stick to the make-up.

I used silver shadow to my crease, added in a purple to the crease and blended out. I used black shadow at the outer crease and blended out to add depth. White shadow at brow bone.

Added purple/silver glitter to centre lid. A slick of black gel liner to top lash line. Silver shadow on lower lash line blended to black on outer edge. Corner false lashes for a fluttery effect.

Lots of black mascara. Finished off with a slick of true red lipstick, a matte brown shadow to contour the hollows of my cheeks, a beauty spot and strongly defined eyebrows. I chucked a load of hair accessories in for extra oompf and glamour for the evening. Glitter was my theme for the night and my sparkly spider hair clip topped it off nicely.

I painted my nails with two coats of Rimmel’s 60 seconds in 310 Red Carpet. I then dipped each nail into the same glitter I used on my eyelids and finished off with two coats of Seche Vite to ensure the nails were smooth to the touch.

I felt super glam with all that glitter. I think I will wear it more often from now on! That’s all for today lovelies, thank you kindly for reading! x

LotD: Turquoise Double Winged Eyeliner

Hello Lovelies, this is just a very quick look of the day post for a look I wore last weekend. I like to double line my top eyelids a lot. It adds a modern twist to a retro look. It’s not dissimilar to The Secretary look I posted a couple of months ago.

I used a little eyeshadow primer over my entire upper eyelids and applied a matte nude shade all over. Next I drew in a winged flick fairly thickly on my upper lash line.

Next, I used a black gel eyeliner to draw a second winged liner really close to my upper lash line to create a double lined eye. I also lined my upper and lower waterline.

I used a little black eyeshadow under the outer lower lash line and blended this into a turquoise eyeshadow at the inner corner of the eye.

I finished off with black mascara. I then applied my foundation, a sweep of pink blush and a bright pinky-red semi-matte lipstick. I’m going totry this look with an acid colour liner next I think.

That’s all for today, thank you kindly for reading!
